Privolzhsky Research Medical University ranked in THE WUR by Subject 2026

On January 21, an update in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Subject 2026 was released.

The rankings evaluate universities based on five core pillars: Teaching, Research Environment, Research Quality, International Outlook, and Industry.

This year’s table includes 1,230 institutions from 102 countries and territories (up from 1,150 in 2025) with 20 Russian universities participating.

As for Medical and Health, Sechenov University is Russia’s best placing in the 601–800 band followed by Pirogov University (801–1,000).

Privolzhsky Research Medical University features in joint 1,001+ alongside with Pavlov University, Bashkir State Medical University and Mechnikov University.

PRMU has advanced in the following.

1.    Since 2021, it has risen in the list of Top 10 medical universities in Russia improving its position from 9^th in 2021 to 7^th in 2025 and 2026.

2.    PRMU hosts a great percentage of international students – 34% of the total cohort (same as RUDN!)

3.    The university has reached a high level of internationalization with a score of 44.1 (Sechenov University: 54.1; Pavlov University: 35.4; Pirogov University: 32.8).
