Faculty History
In order to train specialists with higher pharmaceutical education (pharmacists), the Faculty of Pharmacy was opened in 2000 at Nizhny Novgorod State Medical University. A significant contribution to the development and formation of higher pharmaceutical education was made by D.Pharm.N., corresponding member. RAEN Svetlana Vladimirovna Kononova, who has been the dean of the faculty since its foundation.
Since 2017, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Ph.D., Associate Professor Maxim Alekseevich Mishchenko. The key role in the formation of the main competencies of pharmacists belongs to the disciplines taught at the Departments of Management and Economics of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Technology (UEF and FT), Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Pharmacognosy (FH and FG), General Chemistry, General and Clinical Pharmacology. In the process of studying at the faculty, students acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to carry out professional activities in the field of circulation of medicines: development, production, expertise, quality control, wholesale and retail sale of medicines, pharmacovigilance, organizational and managerial and supervisory activities. Recently, more and more attention has been paid to the issues of training specialists for industrial pharmacy — in the field of drug research, quality assurance and validation of pharmaceutical production, clinical laboratory diagnostics, chemical and toxicological studies and pharmaceutical inspection.
In 2019, the faculty opened the teaching of foreign students in English. During the existence of the faculty, more than 1,500 specialists, including more than 100 citizens of foreign countries, have received a pharmacist's diploma.
